Red data book is the standard book for CD-DA, on which all the standards of CD are built on the basis of red data book. Red data book defines sub-channel, index point and CD-G. |

Yellow data book
Yellow data book is the standard book for CD-ROM, which doesn’t restrain the format of file in disc, so it can be applied in various file formats, such as ISO-9660，HFS in Ipod company etc. Yellow book defines two tracks: mode 1 and mode 2. Mode 1 is fit for data storage of high integrity, whereas mode 2 is fit for data allowing small deficiency. the sector’s length in yellow data book standard is 2352 bytes, including 12 SYNC and 4 headers. The sector in mode 1 has ECC and EDC, which assures the exactide of data. And there are 2048b of users’ data in every sector. There is no ECC and EDC in mode 2, with 2236b of data of users ?in every sector. |

Green data book
Green data book is the standard book for CD-I & CD-RTOS, which allows computer data, audio data and image data to save on one CD-I track alternately. CD-I track display on the content of disc, preventing the audio player from playing. Disc under green data book standard will store data in two different kinds of forms of mode 2, form 1 including EEC, suitable for programming storage and data; form 2 including no EEC, suitable for audio and picture data storage. |

Orange data book
Orange data book is standard for a newly born disc, which is called writable disc. And it can write the film program and data on the disc. CD-MO is described in the first part of orange book, CD-WO in sencond part, which is usually called CD-R or read at one disc.
